Video: Mitch White Finally Makes an Appearance in Spring Training
Dodgers right-handed pitching prospect is recovering from a shoulder impingement.
The mystery has been solved. We hadn’t seen Mitch White all spring, or heard a peep about him, until his session with the media Friday morning. It turns out the 25-year-old right-hander has been dealing with “a little shoulder impingement” since early in camp, and is just getting up to speed now.
White, a 2016 second-round draft pick from Santa Clara University, threw a bullpen a couple of days ago and is scheduled to throw another one tomorrow. He’s hoping to get into one of the remaining 10 games in the exhibition schedule, but if not, he’ll head to the club’s USC alternate site following the Freeway Series.
In his four-year minor league career, White has made 75 appearances, including 67 starts, with a 3.97 ERA, a 1.220 WHIP and 311 strikeouts in 294 2/3 innings. He went three innings in two games with the Dodgers in 2020, allowing no runs on a hit, a walk and two strikeouts.
As an Asian-American, White shared his thoughts about anti-Asian rhetoric and violence, including this week’s shooting in Atlanta.
